What is a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS)?
Meet Josh Birchard, BA, CPS
Josh has always loved being a Certified Peer Specialist (CPS). After graduating from Wesleyan University in 2002 with a BA degree and working in various positions, Josh completed his CPS training in 2013 and has worked at two different mental health agencies in Philadelphia before joining Peercovery. Josh has worked his entire adult life to recover from his own substance use and mental health challenges. Today, he has 11 years of continuous sobriety and is grateful to be feeling much better. He has seen that recovery is possible (and even probable) for those who are willing to keep working at it, whether that means using natural supports and resources (family, community, spiritual practices, etc), treatment, working on goals, working on getting and staying sober, or other practices that promote mental and physical health and well-being. Josh is available as a supportive mentor and guide for those who are currently on their own journey towards better mental health and freedom from substance use. Contact Peercovery today at 484.301.5100 to find out how Josh can help you or a friend or loved one.
